Julie Rose Ed. D.

Hello!  I look forward to meeting you in person soon.  Music teaching is a passion for me.  I have some of the best credentials in the San Diego area.  In addition to having a Doctorate in Education with a focus on music and imagination, I have nearly 30 years of experience teaching music at the preschool and elementary school level.  My Bachelors Degree is in Music Education with a dual emphasis in guitar and voice.  I have played piano since I was 4 years old. I also have a Masters Degree is in Special Education with an emphasis on music as an early intervention. In addition, I became an Orff instructor in 1985.  I have participated in literally hundreds of hours of music education, child development and early childhood classes and workshops.  In addition, I have attended dozens of workshops on movement for children and my classes always contain a strong element of movement.  In my teaching use the Orff approach, especially with young children, but also incorporate elements of the Suzuki and Kodaly modalities. Throughout the years, in addition to directing my own music academy, I have conducted many workshops, summer music programs and children's choirs.  I have been a song writer and performer most of my life and bring this perspective to my teaching.  A strong emphasis on creativity and development of the imagination runs through all of my classes.  I am a certified teacher in the state of California and have undergone the fingerprinting and background check associated with the credential.  I am currently employed at Shantivanam Music Community, in Encinitas, Ca, where I teach music classes.  Because there are young children in the school I have also undergone the even more rigorous background check that is required to work with young children.
