Music is not a luxury and should be a priority,
not only because music instruction enhances child development in every area, but also because all children are inherently
musical and are born with a natural connection to an inner source of peace and joy. We often speak of the innocence
and joy of young children and seek ways to help them stay connected to that joy. When children have personal experience
with music they connect with something very basic to human nature. Music is one of a small number of activities
(such as communion with nature, the other arts, prayer and meditation) that connect us directly to an inner
source of joy and fulfillment. All children, regardless of their financial circumstances, should have music
as an important part of their lives, from a very young age, before they begin to lose the natural connection to Joy with which
all children are born.
